The ZTE Axon 7 has just been certified for Daydream VR use, with its concurrent implementation of Android Nougat.
This is significant news for anyone still on the fence about VR, and those who want to “dip their toes” into the water so to speak, with Daydream providing an ideal entry point to try out VR before committing to PC-based VR solutions like HTC Vive or Oculus Rift.
The ZTE Axon 7 retails for a relatively affordable $393 on Amazon, which compares very favorably to the $853, 128GB Huawei Mate 9 Pro, the 64GB Google Pixel which costs $735, and even the previous cost leader Moto Z, which can be had for $450.
For this price, you get a 5.5″, 2560×1440 screen backed by a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 System-on-Chip, an Adreno 530 video processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
With the Daydream headset retailing for $49.99 at Best Buy, this is a good time to jump in and experience what VR has to offer.
